The 34B project (the most common bra size, according to North American measurements) spans its hundred-year history, from the prudishness of 19th-century corsets to the miniskirt of the '60s, via the flat chest and tubular shape of the '20s, the pointed bust of the '50s and the incendiary bras of the feminist and hippie movements. I want to talk about the struggles that endure, the hope that never dies. I want to talk about the drama of the assembly line, the overwhelming repetition of the same gestures and the impression of becoming a machine, the enclosed spaces, the impossibility of taking flight, the aspirations and solidarity of the workers as one cuts a diamond, with precision and delicacy.
