Hélène Lamarche is a visual artist and film teacher who has been exploring various artistic practices for over 20 years. Her work focuses mainly on textiles, particularly embroidery, in works such as Cyanotypes brodés and Toisons d'heures, which link poetry and clothing. Her artistic travels to Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, India and the Czech Republic have also enriched her practice. In 2018, Hélène Lamarche discovered a collection of Hmong textiles at the Musée d'Aquitaine, thanks to curator Katia Kukawka. This encounter inspired a project to promote the textile and cultural heritage of the Hmong, a nomadic people of Southeast Asia. Hélène Lamarche, who has already explored various traditional techniques during international residencies, wishes to establish a dialogue between these ancestral skills and her artistic work. The project also aims to showcase the museum's previously unseen collection, linking it with new contemporary creations, while highlighting Hmong textile traditions.
